At the first appointment the therapist will need to make a record of details for administration purposes; name, address, date of birth etc.
A record of your medical history will also be taken to ensure that you do not present any contraindications which would prevent you from having treatment. If this is the case, alternative treatment will be discussed with you.
You will then be asked to describe the current problem in detail and the therapist may carry out some examinations and movement tests. The therapist will talk you through the treatment they will be carrying out.
You have the right to withdraw from treatment at any time, whether that be before or during treatment.
For treatment you will be asked to remove sufficient clothing to expose the area(s) requiring treatment - a screened changing area is provided. During treatment any exposed parts of the body not being treated will be covered with towels.
After treatment the therapist will discuss what they have found, reiterate any treatment carried out and plan your next steps on your road to recovery.
